Top Christmas Anti Weight Gain Tips
We all like to indulge a little bit at Christmas (yes even me!) But I have seen too many clients come back in the New Year having put on a load of weight and feeling depressed and disappointed about it. I believe by employing a few simple strategies you can get just as much enjoyment out of your festive period without ruining a lot of hard work you have put in to lose the weight. Check out my Top Christmas Anti Weight Gain Tips.
1/ Drink More Water
Sounds basic but its unbelievably powerful. Studies show that if you drink more water you will be likely to consume fewer calories from both food and alcohol. It fills your stomach more and quite often when people think they are hungry, they are actually thirsty. Especially important if you are drinking alcohol as that is a diuretic and will dehydrate you. Aim for 3 litres without alcohol and an extra half litre for every 2 units of alcohol you drink.
2/ Eat Properly At Meal Times
A lot of people eat quite lightly at meal times to ‘leave room’ for all the other treats. The reality is a cheese straw, a handful and nuts and few chocolates can rack up as many calories as you would eat in a normal meal. And obviously with such a small quantity will barely fill you up at all. So make sure you eat a proper portion of you protein and veg to fill you up. It stands to reason you are likely to pick less and consume fewer calories that way.
3/ Choose Your Favourites
Don’t just eat everything because it’s there and it’s Christmas. Eat the treats you really like and enjoy and leave the ones you aren’t so bothered about. And don’t overeat. Why is it deemed acceptable to eat until bursting at Christmas time? Does anyone actually enjoy that feeling you get from being over full? Again, have some treats, but don’t eat way more than you usually would for the sake of it.
